Vitamins of beauty and youth
Vitamin Н (biotin)
Biotin is frequently named the vitamin of beauty and youth because in fact this vitamin makes the skin healthy and elastic, promoting as well the growth of hair and nails. Biotin maintains the normal levels of blood sugar and beneficially influences upon muscular cells. This coenzyme participates in reactions of carbon dioxide transfer to the organic compounds, particularly in the biosynthesis of fatty acids. In the human body the biotin is synthesized by intestinal microflora. The daily norm of biotin consumption by the adult person is 0.25 mg. Insufficiency of vitamin Н basically results in skin affection. The greatest biotin content was found in egg yolks, yeasts, dairy products, cereal cultures, cauliflower and some other vegetables.
Vitamin D (calciferol)
This vitamin influences on mineral metabolism, provides the process of calcium and phosphorus absorption in the intestines, promotes calcium deposition in the bone tissues. Vitamin D is extremely important for rickets prevention in children. In the human body it is formed from the skin provitamin by means of solar exposure. The daily norm of vitamin consumption for an adult person makes 0.005 mg. The vitamin deficiency arises because of the absence of ultra-violet exposure in the conditions of polar night. Vitamin D is found exclusively in the products of animal origin such as the sour cream, cream, milk, eggs, cod and tuna liver, and also in some other sea foods.
Vitamin Е (tocopherol)
This vitamin protects the cells of the body from free radicals and promotes neutralization of metabolic products. It normalizes the activity of muscular system, prevents muscular weakness and exhaustion. Owing to its influence the intensity of inflammatory processes is reduced (anti-oxidant action) and the eyesight improves. Tocopherol is closely connected to the function of endocrine system, particularly sexual glands, thyroid gland, and hypophysis. It stimulates libido. The daily norm of vitamin consumption for the adult person is 20 mg. Vitamin Е is found in the products of a vegetative and animal origin. There is much of this vitamin in vegetable oils, especially in sunflower, cotton and soya oils. Much of tocopherol is in wheat sprouts and cereal cultures. In vegetables, milk, butter, legumes, hen’s eggs, meat and a fish the content of this vitamin is small though the daily use of these products allows providing the organism with tocopherol.
